The situation: people who are new to a city, or simply want company, look for “buddies” at events or online, in Facebook groups, forums and community chats.
The problem: it’s slow and hit-and-miss. Posts are unstructured, most get no reply, and with everyone’s tight schedules, even when you find someone you like, you rarely manage to find time to actually hang out.
The solution: Dazi (搭子, Chinese for “a buddy for one activity”) lets you describe your plan in one sentence. AI turns it into a structured trip poster: city, dates, interests and vibe. Dazi then matches you with people in the same city with overlapping dates, and ranks them by how similar their plans, travel style and personality are, with a short AI-written reason for each match.
Built with safety first: age shown only as a range, contact details blocked, private by default, and a one-click “delete my data”.
Safety and privacy by design: you’re meeting strangers, so safety isn’t an add-on.
Private by default: your exact age, gender and preferences are never shown. Age appears only as a range, and matching works on age bands, so nobody can work out your exact age.
No contact details: phone numbers and emails are blocked in plans and profiles, enforced by the database itself, not just the app.
Locked-down data: every table has row-level security, and 84 automated access checks pass.
Your data, your call: one click deletes your account and everything linked to it.
Transparent AI: every AI-written text is labelled (EU AI Act), and all AI calls run on the server, so no keys ever reach the browser.
Audited: three security scanners reviewed the app before launch, and the findings and fixes are documented in the repo.
What’s next:
Mutual-accept contact: invites and messages that only open when both people say yes
Block and report, so anyone can leave an uncomfortable match instantly
Guest search: try matching before signing up, with anonymised results
Real-user pilot to tune the matching weights, then more cities beyond Berlin
