Oddities & Household Supplies is a dark fantasy shop built around the idea of an ordinary store existing in a very unusual world. Instead of standard products, the catalogue contains strange remedies, ritual supplies, cursed objects, questionable tools, magical ingredients, and other items that range from useful to unsettling.
The experience is designed more like a game shop than a conventional e-commerce site. The vendor remains visible in the background while products are presented as part of the shop environment, giving the interface the feeling of browsing an inventory in an old fantasy game rather than scrolling through a typical online store. The tone mixes dark fantasy, absurdity, and everyday practicality.
The project was created as a learning exercise, but the goal was to make it feel like a coherent fictional product rather than a generic technical demo. Much of the work focused on atmosphere, item presentation, visual hierarchy, and making the shop itself feel like a place with its own identity.
The shop is built with Next.js, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS, with Payload CMS used to manage products and catalogue data. Product information such as titles, descriptions, prices, stock, categories, and item properties can be maintained through the CMS rather than being hard-coded into the frontend.
Supabase provides the database layer, while Stripe is used for the payment and checkout flow. The application is deployed on Vercel.
The frontend was designed around a custom desktop-focused shop interface rather than a standard e-commerce template. Product assets, environmental artwork, shop UI elements, and the vendor background are layered together to create the game-like presentation. The project therefore combines a conventional commerce stack with a deliberately unconventional interface and visual direction.
